Clooz 2.1 is now available! You can download the full
version here. The program starts in demo mode. This means
that anyone can try the program for 30 days, or 15 tries. In
order to keep using the program after the 30 days or 15
tries, you'll need to enter a serial number. If you've
already purchased the program, you will be receiving an
e-mail with the serial number so you can have full access to
the program. If you have not yet purchased the program, feel
free to take Clooz 2.1 for a test drive. If you find that
you like it, you can click on the Buy Now link on the left
and purchase the program.
Clooz 2.1 was released on 2 January 2007.
The CDs for the new program are being created. They will
be shipped to purchasers of the CD version as soon as
they are available. For now, you can download the
program from the link below. You can
also purchase just a download version, for the same price
but with no shipping added. The download-only purchase
does not come with a CD, and is non-refundable. Therefore,
before you purchase the download only, please download the
full version and try it.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have already purchased Clooz 2.0, you
do not need to purchase Clooz 2.1--this is a free
upgrade for you. Use the serial number that you were
provided, if asked to put in a serial number again.
Clooz 2.1 requires
Windows XP to run properly. It may work on Windows
2000, but the program is only supported on Windows XP
machines. It may also work on Mac systems with
Windows emulators, but, again, we don't support that
operating system at this time. The manual for Clooz 2 is
included with the setup program. You can also download
it from the link above. A Clooz Tutorial is now
available for purchase from the BuyNow link on the left.

The download of
Clooz 2.1 is about 100MB. If you have a dial-up
connection, you may be better off going to your local
library with a blank CD and downloading there.

There are
two sites to download Clooz
from. If one doesn't work, try the other one.
Please be patient, there are a lot of people trying
to download. Firefox and Opera browsers may not
allow you to download, you might need to use
Internet Explorer.

This is a
Zip file and will need to be unzipped before you
install the program. You can download a free copy of
Winzip if you
don't already have a program that unzips.

1.23 Patch
If you're not sure whether or not you
need this patch, in Clooz, go to Help on the menu bar and click on About Clooz. That will
tell you your version number. If it says any version before
1.23, then you need this patch. After you
load the patch, About Clooz will say version 1.23.
When you install this patch, you will be asked for a
serial number. If you already have a serial number from
version 1.22, that serial number will be accepted and you'll
be able to continue installation. If you don't have a serial
number,
you need to send an e-mail to password@clooz.com
and request the serial number. Be sure to include your name and address
with the request so we can
look you up in the database to ensure you're registered. If it turns out you haven't
registered, you'll need to mail in the Clooz registration card
you received when you
purchased the program or a copy of your receipt as proof of
purchase. You can also fax either of these to 734-354-6442.
If you've never purchased Clooz, this download is not a free
version, but you must purchase the right to use the program.

Clooz v. 1.23 (16.7 MB)
The download file is
called "setup.exe." The file is very large (16.7
MB) because it's the full version of Clooz. There were
enough changes in this version to warrant the full
installation file. Since it's the full installation file,
you'll be asked whether you want to install the
stand-alone, Access 97, or Access 2000 versions of Clooz.
If you prefer to have a CD version of the patch, you can
order the CD for $5 plus shipping from the
Ancestor
Detective web site.
There is no Access 2002 version of Clooz, nor is there
plans for one. Now that this patch is completed, work will
begin in earnest on version 2.0, which will be converted
to Visual Basic. At that point, there will only be one
version of Clooz (but your database will be able to be
read by the Visual Basic version).
Once you
install the new version of Clooz, start Clooz as you normally do. You'll notice that your databases aren't listed
in the drop-down box. Please realize that your databases are still on your hard drive,
only the link to them has been deleted. That's because every time you get a new version of
clooz.mde, your database list starts out empty. Click on the file folder icon and find or
create a database to work with.

After many requests,
Ancestor Detective,
LLC has created a downloadable demo of Clooz version 1.23. The demo will allow prospective
users to input up to 50 names in order to test the program's capabilities. Once the
50-person limit has been reached, the program will prompt you to purchase the full
version. You can purchase the full version and download a
file to unlock the program, or you can purchase the CD and install
the entire program.
The Clooz Demo download file is 13.5MB. The Clooz Demo does not come with any support. Technical support is available to
purchasers of the full version.
